International Conference: Peacebuilding and Genocide Prevention: Memory of the Genocide from Anfal and the Marshlands to Halabja and Sinjar

Charmo University Research Center for Crimes of Anfal and Genocide has Partnered with University of Human Development and six other academic Institutions including the UNESCO chair for Genocide Prevention Studies in the Islamic World at University of Baghdad, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Martyrs Foundation/General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, The Political Prisoners Foundation, Bait Al-Hikma, Malay Gawra Research Center of Koya University, and Research Center, Genocide Department of Halabja University will held its international Conference under the Slogan of "Memory of Genocide from Anfal and the Mashlands to Halabja and Sinjar"  at the Conference hall of University of Human Development in Sulaimani for the period from 15th to 16th December 2021.

In this conference, the genocides committed by the former dictatorial regimes and extremist organizations will be addressed in seperate regions of the world, and in Iraq in particular. The dictatorial regimes that ruled Iraq for 35 years committed multiple genocides, forced displacement, mass graves, bombing cities and villages with weapons of mass destructions and chemical weapons and finally committing the heinous crimes of Anfal operations against he kurdish people in northern Iraq, the same regime also committed crimes against the Marsh Arabs in the far south, and against revolutionaries and civilians during the Shaaban uprising of 1991. And then, then ISIS crimes against religious minorities in Mosul, such as the Shabaks and Christians and the Yazidies in Sinjar.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Hunar Ameen Hassan, the Vice President of Charmo University is a member of the Scientific Commission along with Dr. Pshtiwan Faraj, the director of the International Relations Office of Charmo University is a member of the preparatory commission of this conference.
