Call for Applications: COSIMENA Summer School 2022 in Egypt

 

Are you from Germany or from one of the countries in the Middle East or North Africa?
Are you either enrolled in a master's program or just finished (max. five years ago)?
Are you interested in agriculture or environmental studies and are you wondering how to create a sustainable farming ecosystem in arid regions?

Then apply *now* for the COSIMENA Summer School 2022!

18 young researchers and experts from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region and Germany will be invited to attend a one-week Summer School in Egypt. Applications are open from 20th–30th June 2022

Date: 10–18 September 2022
Location: the campus of Heliopolis University in Cairo
Travel & Accommodation: The DAAD will take care of the travel arrangements and will cover the costs of flights/travel and accommodation. In addition, a transfer from the airport to the campus of Heliopolis University and SEKEM Farm (accommodation) will be arranged.
Who can apply?
Junior researchers who
1. are currently pursuing a master’s program
2.have finished a master’s program within the last 5 years
The students/researchers may come from a variety of disciplines:

• Agriculture
• Food
• Economics
• Social sciences and
• environmental engineering.
However, because of the regional focus of the Summer School on topics related to the Middle East, all participants should have an interest or focus on the Middle East.

How to apply?

Required documents include:

• your CV in English
• your graduate diploma (if already available)
• proof of sufficient English language proficiency (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS, language certificate from your university, proof of enrolment in an English-speaking program, etc.)
• a motivation letter in English, outlining why you want to take part in the COSIMENA summer school, how you could personally benefit from the program and what kind of own research project you are working on and how it is related to the theme of the Summer School. The length of the motivation letter should range between 200 – 250 words.

 

The application deadline is 30th June 2022 by midnight (Cairo Time)

Notifications on the outcome of your application as well as invitations for successful applicants will be sent out to the applicants by end of July 2022
