Charmo University participates in Peace-building and Genocide Prevention Conference

On 15th adn 16th December 2021, an international Scientific Conference was held at University of Human Development in Sulaimani. Charmo University was an active partner in both the scientific and preparatory committee of this conference and six of Charmo Lecturers participated in it and presented their research papers on the topic.
Dr. Pshtiwan Faraj, Head of IRO office of Charmo University was one of the preparatory committee of the conference and he also moderated an interesting session of different aspects of genocide committed in Iraq against both the Kurds, Shia people and Ezidies. Also in this panel was Mr. Ali Hussien Kadhim who was the sole surviver of camp Speicher massacre committed by the so called Daesh ISIS group.
In addition to  moderating that panel, Dr. Pshtiwan also translated, interpreted and summarized a panel in  english where several well known scholars on genocide participated including: 

1. Peacebuilding and Conflict Transformation by Dr Amru, 

2. Why UN and Community of Nations have failed to Prevent Genocide by Dr. Gregory H. Stanton 

3.  Co-existence and Peacebuilding in ancient Iraq: reassessing historical narratives of state-sponsored violence by Eleanor Robson 

4. Genocide Prevention: Rwanda Experience by Dr. Jin Boska

Finally, at the end of the conference Dr. Pshtiwan Faraj was awarded the gift of active participation by the head of Institude of Martyrs affiliated to the Iraqi Council of Ministers as well as certificate of attendance was awarded to all participants, including among them the researchers of Charmo University.
